I have been wondering why the government would do something so stupid. The stated goal of the government is to promote EV take up. They are even offering cash to reduce the upfront cost of a new EV. Yet the 3pence per mile will put some people off getting an EV.
Does not make sense, just up the yearly car road tax!
Then, for me the penny dropped. Car manufacturers have mandated targets to meet. Fail and very big fines will be leved on them. Could it be the Government is looking for a big payday if the car manufacturers miss there targets.
I could be wrong!
