Even if you cant charge at home, it is still cheaper than pump prices. There is no tco with an ev on the scheme. We are not concerned with depreciation. My last petrol car on the scheme cost £31k and 3 years later when I handed it back it was on sale in a forecourt for £16k. Thats about the same as ev depreciation, but again, its not something that concerns us.

How is it cheaper than pump prices?

Even if you charged at 50p kWh at a decent speed charger and covered 3.5 miles -14.3p per mile

    A 38mpg ICE – 15p per mile

    A 50mpg Hybrid – 11.6p per mile

Of course, thats if you can charge a 50p a kWh at a charger with a decent speed and at a reasonable time of day!

The average depreciation of ICE over 3yrs is 50%, for an EV it’s 60%. You only have to look on Autotrader to see how much EV’s depreciate or you could take reported losses quoted by Motability on EV resales.

Don’t get me wrong, I can see why some my choose an EV, but there is a growing number on this forum, where they have become blinkered and start talking a load of sh!t!
