Not sure how many of you folly the nitty gritty of the car industry, but it seems range extenders are making a comeback on both Hybrids and EV’s (EREV) (REV) (REX), Whils’t the technology is mainly seen in China, the european market is seeing a resurgence of extended range electric vehicles (EREVs). Mazda brought EREV to europe in 2023 (MX30), Ford is leading the charge to bring EREV back to europe, VW is looking at the feasability for it’s ID models and BMW for it’s ix5, the i3 has one. Hyundai, not sure, if for EV’s or Hybrids… I wonder if the Vauxhall Ampera will make a comeback!

Theres no chance for the Ampera, Vauxhall got it as they were part of the group, now they’re Stellantis, there’s no chance of a car that well built.  Best Vauxhall I’ve driven by a country mile.  30 miles pure electric 200 miles extended.  Hours wasted explaining the 1.4 generator wasn’t an engine.

If you want a car with low seats the Ampera would have been ideal,  it was like climbing out of a supercar.
