Doesn’t excuse it though.
A gearstick belongs on the centre console. Enyaq, like Explorer etc are ID based models, so they use the same stupid gear lever. Didn’t like it in those either.
It’s the same as the idiotic digital mirrors – fixing a problem that didn’t exist. Throw the window switches where they belong, on the door, put the gear selector on the centre console, where it belongs. Stop being french for no reason. If i want quirky controls that don’t make sense, i’ll get an old Citroen.
Worked for almost 100 years, i don’t see why that requires changing now – it doesn’t offer anything, just makes handling the car awkward.
I probably will stop using auto hold, since there’s no foot rest for the right leg anyway. In the Golf, you stop and put your feet left and right on the rests, was comfy that way. Not possible in the Ioniq sadly.
That all said: most of it is me being annoyed having to re-learn/get rid of automatisms. I’ll get used to it eventually.
