I remember well you being interested in the Cx60 at the same time Glos Guy!

At the time I had the choice of 1 vehicle on the scheme that had a  towing capacity of 2.5t. We were willing to accept a few niggles to accommodate that. Not the plethora of obvious foibles the car has!

Things never stay the same and circumstances inevitably change. We px’d the caravan for a motorhome we’ve had adapted for our daughter’s needs. So the love was never really there for the CX60 even though we really wanted to love the ‘Kardashian Wagon’.

We’re currently looking for an alternative that can comfortably take 3 adults, 2 of whom are disabled, and 2 crates for support dogs. That choice won’t be anything available on the scheme I’m afraid. VW Multivan LWB, ID Buzz LWB, MB V Class or VW Kombi/Shuttle/Caravelle are the only alternatives.

We are lucky, in that, after 10 years of fighting a medical negligence case, we can now fund the purchase of a vehicle that is perfect for her needs. Not something negotiated on the back of a fag packet by people in the thrall of the Daily Mail.

When you really scrutinise the cost effectiveness, the Scheme is good value. But I can get a £60K Multivan for £230 a month, admittedly with a £19K deposit. The real value of the Scheme is the insurance, maintenance, tyres and peace of mind. That used to be baked in to the Scheme. My Dad had his first Motability car back in the early 1980’s when it was beyond brilliant. Each iteration sees worse service driven by cost considerations and greed. I view the cost of living crisis rather as a cost of greed crisis, with no end to paying more for a lot less.

Anyway, until the termination we’re stuck with the unfathomable CX60!
