but there’s a lot of issues I see the Ioniq 6 has that is stopping me

Such as? That aside, if the car is not suitable, why force it?

Compared to my current Tucson the issues I have with the Ioniq 6 is laggy infotainment, outdated software, no wireless CarPlay, small boot, steering wheel doesn’t straighten itself after a turn, firm seats, no Apple Maps directions in HUD, large turning circle and the car is an awkward size which will make parking and tight car parks a pain. My main factor in wanting the 6 is that I think it looks stunning and I’ve heard it’s a comfortable drive and that motability would give me back £1800 from my Tucson AP which means I’d be getting paid to change to the 6 but I fear all of those issues would be hard to overlook.

Infotainment is indeed laggy, have used it once to set the car up and haven’t touched it since. Similar to the VW touch buttons, less of a deal than people make it out to be. Nonetheless, true.

Outdated software doesn’t mean anything, not an issue. Not having wireless AA/Carplay does sting a little coming from a car that had it, but bought the correct cable, now it’s 2 seconds extra on start up. Not a big deal.

Small boot is nonsense, the boot is huge. Yes, it’s quite obviously smaller than a Tucson, but i’m not quite sure that it’s reasonable to compare an SUV boot to that of a “luxury” saloon. It’s over 400 litres – more than a Qashqai.

No 3rd party directions in the HUD, true – but is assumed to come in a firmware update at some point. The Golf didn’t have it in the beginning either. Doesn’t matter to me much, i personally don’t use the HUD, but if it’s a dealbreaker to you, then yeah. Probably wait until after the update.

Steering wheel: i agree. It’s awkward to drive in the beginning, but i’m getting used to it now. Takes a few miles though. Electric power steering sucks.

Large turning circle is kind of to be expected. It’s a large car – the turning radius is narrower than that of a 5 series, which would be equivalent in size. Not by much, but yeah, if you’re getting a huge car (and the car is absolutely huge), then that’s really not something you can discredit the car for. It has a decent enough turning radius for what it is. Parking isn’t any worse than any other car the same size. In fact, it probably is better since you can get out and have the car park itself (if you chose to use the feature).

Can’t disagree with the looks, i do certainly think it’s a stunning car – in terms of comfortable drive, it’s getting there slowly. Ours certainly is quite firm (not settled yet).

I gotta be honest, i’m not entirely certain why you’d want to get rid of the Tucson, but this doesn’t seem to me like a great tradeoff. Bit of money in the pocket and a better looking car doesn’t outweigh, imho, having the more suitable one. Keep in mind that you can’t cancel any lease early at any time.

You’re one year out on the end of contract, i’d stick with it.

On an unrelated note: fixed me key now as well.

.. also doubles as a self defence tool now, weighing around half a ton and made from actual metal.

    edit:

Also threw this in the car.

Just a quick design, but it holds what it needs to hold, better than have the stuff rattle around in the humongous storage thing underneath. Only downside is, can’t reach that when the relaxation seats are down lol. Next on the list is a holder for the Electroverse RFID, to the sun visor.
