Got to agree with Rene, the handling is a bit of shock, coming from the BMW, I need to alter my mindset on the chuckability, and enjoy and embrace the uniqueness of the car, otherwise I would of gone for a Mini.

Just came back from a more.. ambitious B Road drive. It works. It’s not as precise as a hot hatch or equivalent “sporty” rig, but it does tickle a little bit when you drive it spirited.

No squeaky brakes here, the suspension seems ok but the BMW was a very firm ride. Only using regen 1 at the moment, so quiet fluid no seasickness reported.

Car has done 120 miles now, with mostly regen-braking. As mentioned, pretty sure they’ll set eventually, i’m just not using them a lot. Currently faffing with i-Pedal, haven’t made my mind up whether or not i want to drive with NO regen (coasting in this car is insane, it just doesn’t slow down), or i-Pedal.

I did read about motion sickness, not quite sure where that comes from – maybe we’re used to it through the PHEV prior, but absolutely zero physical impact reported by the lady of the house.

The car doesn’t shrink in tight spaces, so still a little cautious, in our crowded South London back roads. Just got to set up the wireless carply dongle, tune the sound system, and adjust the interior lighting. Then a years learning on all the other functions.

It very doesn’t shrink, currently still quite apprehensive and overly cautious with the bulk of it (sadly, Brydo learned the harsh way). We live in a small village, so everything is tight around here, and tractors coming towards us aplenty.

With the wireless dongle, do be careful: the USB A port is permanently powered. We decided against a wireless dongle because you need to unplug it when you leave the car – or wire a switch in between. Seen quite a few tutorials on that, in various Ioniq6 FB groups and subreddits. With the looming threat of an ICCU issue, we decided against using a wireless dongle – instead got a 10cm 90 degree cable, fits perfectly and looks tidy. This one.

edit: doesn’t show up, it’s called “USB C Cable 10cm short cable,MYLB Nylon Braided Right Angle 90 Degree USB C 5V/ 5A Super fast Charging and Data Sync Cable (0.1m / 4 inch, Black)” sold by MYLB. Both ends 90 degree connectors.

Works a treat (S24), and i’m not too fussed about plugging it in. Of course proper wireless would be nicer, but alas, this works fine and also reduces heat (google maps navigation + wireless charging led to overheating S24 in the Golf).

Wired dash cam as well (12V, not hardwired), was much less painful than we feared. Cable routed nicely (though i did have to print a small cable reel for excess, stuck under the floating console), all out of view now apart from where it exits the headliner to the camera.

Currently in CAD to “design” a quick storage for our vape batteries, to be thrown in the cupholder – there sadly isn’t any convenient space for it where it doesn’t rattle. Nothing fancy, just this.

As for features.. Try the Auto-parking next. Hold the camera button until it turns on, rest comes through on-screen instructions. Definitely try the “get out of the car and have it park itself while you wait outside” option, at least once. Good party piece to show off to a mate, lol.

Press and hold “Auto Hold” for a few seconds activates brake cleaning. Remember you are in regen braking mostly and the disks go unused and start to squeak.

Yeah i know, but i didn’t know how to activate the brake cleaning, cheers for that. Will do that a few times next drive – i do use a lot of regen braking due to not being 100% confident with the car, so i verge to the careful side of driving (slow, basically).

It don’t need a few thousand miles though, the tyres are settled after 150ish miles. It’s not 1985 anymore 😉 😀
