Anything that requires self certification for such a safety critical activity is doomed to have failures. Personally I think everybody that has a driving licence should be reassessed every 10 years. Not the full test again, but an eyesight test so you can read a number plate, a couple of questions on the highway code and a short drive around the block. Not a ban if you fail, you get to complete it with a certain time period (3, 6 or 12 months?) before your licence is removed or restricted 🤔
I’m not having a go at us disabled or elderly drivers but all drivers cause the standards today are terrible ☹️ I think its crazy you could get a licence without ever being on a motorway, or allowed to go on a motorway, but immediately drive away from the test centre and head straight onto the motorway with a car/van full of people 🤯
