My suggestion for Government to actually aid the charging problems:
1 All Housing Associations to be forced to take a proactive ‘how can we make this happen’ approach to all charger install requests, working with both charger companies and tenants to increase the accessibility to charging within their properties.
2 All councils to offer trials of charging tunnel type installations where installations are performed at cost rather than the enhanced sales price they usually offer.
3 Central Government to offer a research grant to anyone looking to develop a system that allows the charging in car parks of blocks of flat/apartments by which the charge is costed to the smart meter for the flat charging.
4 All new developments to include solar panels and car charging ensuring that there is no public access between car and charger or that any such access is given the provision of a cable tunnel.
The biggest challenges are still around getting those in flats the ability to charge at home prices. Although there’s also the question of the need for cities like London to offer charging within certain boundaries at all as public transport is significantly more reliable than elsewhere in the country.
