I’m currently dealing with UC for my adult Autistic son.
As his appointee I receive his payments into my account and transfer a set amount each month to his. The rest is used for clothing, household necessities, travel expenses, a weekly big food shop etc. etc. etc. He is vunerable and easily taken advantage of, this way I can assure he’ll always have money available should he need it (at least while I’m still alive, what happens after that we’re still working on!)
They’ve asked for his bank records going back 4 months as well as a copy of his passport and a photo of him with it next to his face. I’m not happy giving them a copy of his passport with all the details intact as that would make it very easy for someone to duplicate.
After dealing with the various DWP departments for over 25 years I’m afraid I trust UC about as far as I can spit 🙁
