I’ve been looking at one of these Kerbo channels, as my local council has a trial. But seeing your issues I have concerns.
As it will be granted under license and tied to our property, You get a 2 year guarantee, thereafter we will be responsible for maintaining the apparatus for a minimum period of 7 years. following which you may commission those, who can only repair it to remove it and reinstate the footway.
Is a get-out clause, with 6 weeks notice or if you sell the property as it’s tied to it you need to inform them of the new persons.
Also you must have public liability insurance of over £3million, which I’ve checked and it will be covered via our building insurance. as The council want INDEMNITY and for the appointed contractor also and cover must be held for the whole period of the channel.
After two years all or repair etc would fail on us and must be undertaken via the councils appointed contractor (Which the council actual owns) or one they subcontract to..
So I’m worried after two years it might cause lots to maintain if the channel can become dislodged so easily and then also if it becomes a hazard and we are liable for any injury should it become damaged or a hazard.
But I don’t think they charge for the installation, as it coming from some sort of government levy fund.
So just wondered on your thoughts.
