I haven’t got a Kia Sportage but all mine cars with auto hand brake next to your handbrake button is usually a button with A on it that needs to pressed so it lights up for it to work. My Qashqai and my Renault Austral works this way.
Hopefully someone with a Sportage can confirm this.p
