I would test drive each and every car they have advised and write down why they aren’t suitable, so you can presnt the evidence back to them. If 4×4/AWD is necessary where you live, I would pressure them on it.
The grants team are a law to themselves, as long as the car meets your needs, it shouldn’t matter whether its powered by hybrid or horse $h!t, as long as it is within your allownce + £750NVP
