@Oscarmax, if you installed another 5kwh battery and fully charged them overnight you would be running the electrical side of the house for 7 or 8.5 p per kwh. Installation of a battery only is not too expensive so this might make sense financially over five or so years. You have had your system longer than me so maybe you’ve looked at this and decided against it. When my install is complete I will be on Octopus Go until I get a BEV sorted out via the scheme. I will have solar, battery storage and an air source heat pump. I will be selling all of my solar back to the grid @ 15p per kwh (7,000 -8,000kwh), I will be charging my batteries, 45kwh, fully every night, running the house including heat pump @ 8.5 p per kWh all day and selling any unused electricity from the batteries back to the grid daily. I remember that Agile gives you pretty cheap gas so I can understand why you chose this route but have you ever thought of installing an air-source heat pump?

Switched back to Octopus Go the other day, previously Octopus export only paid 4.1 pence a kWh then updated to 8 pence kWh, recently they have changed their policy and now pay 15 pence kWh for export, for us this is a game changer so we switched back to Go

As regards gas there is no Agile gas Tarif, only fixed or tracker, we use tracker for gas.

As regards and extra 5.8 kWh (£2,000) battery financially is does not make sense, on Octopus Go cover a 12 month period the most we  imported 500 kWh at 25 pence kWh = £125 per year, it would take approximately 16 years payback, £2000 in my savings account 5% for 16 years = 16 weeks £1600, so no real point.

Our standing charge to Octopus Energy is £50 per calendar month we have the heating on at 22 degrees C to date we are £657.98 in credit, so no have not considered a heat pump, our 2 bedroom detached bungalow is only 7 years old and well insulated, I have slowly changed the original steel radiators to more efficient alloy radiators, in 2 years time we will change the combo boiler for a new Worcester Bosch.

However, I look forward to your latest installation, you never know I may become a convert.

Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally I get confused and often say the wrong thing.
