The Garo consumer unit is primarily For PEN fault detection and will also have Surge Protection device’s (SPD’s) and MCB’s for PV system. PEN fault detection and Surge Protective Devices are a requirement for solar installations.
The industrial looking isolator is also a requirement for PV systems
Mlite ECA2 solar generation meter are normally bidirection for import, export, net however some smart meters are capable of this.
These form part of a standard electrical pack needed, as a requirement for the installation of PV systems. As an installer the two most popular units are MATTE or GARO and are not part of an upgrade pack. It is possible to install a standalone PEN Fault/SPD and a seperate CU but this is uncommon and it can cost more in the long run.
In my proffesional view none of that warrants the description of an upgraded consumer unit!
