I doubt having it in sport mode would make much of a difference, as it alters throttle response by tigting up pedal travel and I don’t believe he Megane has true active suspension if any. That said KF shoud not have been altering customers settings and certainly not taking it for a boy racer test drive! The question is, would you be happy for XL rated tyres on the fronts, when the car wasn’t designed to use them or do you push for matching standard set or at least a replacement to match the existing tyre on the opposite corner!
Kezo Im 100% correct trust me
When setting up a Perso mode steering effort (mine is set to sport) and also there is a choice of Vehicle dynamics mine was changed from comfort to sport by kwikfit and this was causing the steering/driving problem
This one simple change to this dynamic setting is dramatic ..trust me
Selecting mode
Available modes may vary according to the vehicle and equipment level. From the “MULTI-SENSE” menu, select the mode 1 desired:
« Comfort » ;
« Eco » ;
« Sport » ;
« Perso » ;
« Snow » ;
« All Terrain » ;
…
For more information on each of these modes, please see your vehicle user manual.
« Configure »
I SET UP MY PERSO MODE as below and when the dynamics were altered I then had the steering problen,
I can replicate again just by ticking sport dynamics or rectify by unticking and reselecting the comfort dynamics
Press “Configure” 2 to customise the various parameters of the following on-board systems:
« Steering effort » ; xxxx I CHOSE SPORT ………..this was untouched
« Vehicle dynamics » ; I CHOSE COMFORT ……was unticked by kwikfit and SPORT selected
« Climate » ; n/a
« Ambient lighting » ; n/a
My car was set up as Perso which is comfort all except steering which is sport (little heavier more feedback) a simple untick and back to comfort dynamics and all is instantly resolved and drives as it did before
In any event mums the word and the RAC Report should get me a matching brand and same tread fitted
Fingers crossed
EDIT
All agreed matching tyre being fitted Wed morning yay
Motorbility arm tyre-line are the dept that motorbibility usually follow direction from the same as Kwikfit but this time kwikfit actioned on my word only
Just to note for whats its worth when the RAC sent me a copy of their report it seems that Motorbility dosent get or even want to see a copy of that report
The thing to takeaway from this instance is if you are not happy with anything then request an independant RAC Report which may or may not support your concerns
As Kezo said do I want mixed brands/tread depths on the same axle?
Truth is no but unless you kick up thats exactly what you could end up with
About time this brand mixing along with different tyre depth practise was sorted out imo
Case closed rant over
Until the next time
