Yes I noticed the big difference in ranges. As mentioned, the petrol range is heavily influenced by the most recent journey and usage. Mine has barely used any petrol yet (only about a gallon or so) so hopefully your figure is more accurate as your car has been used a lot more? Having come from a petrol car that could manage 600 miles between 5 minute fuel stops I’m hoping that the PHEV won’t be much different due to every charge adding 38 miles of range.

Talking of petrol consumption, whilst I was disappointed that the miles driven on petrol yesterday only delivered 37 mpg, I forgot to link that to the fact that a chunk of this was in HEV mode which, as you’ve previously stated, is uneconomical as, in addition to propelling the (heavy) car, it’s using fuel to recharge the battery and, by doing so, I gained 2 x 2 miles extra in EV mode. Again, this is why the total cost per mile is the only truly accurate figure when trying to establish costs.

I think I read that the Tucson PHEV only has a 42 litre fuel tank (9.24 gallons). Does that sound about right based on your refuels? If correct, I probably have around 8 gallons left. Based on my recent petrol only 37 mpg that would make the circa 300 mile petrol range about right. You’ve done far more mileage so hopefully are achieving much better petrol consumption, hence your higher range? Time will tell. Hopefully yours is correct and mine will improve.

With the sound system I have left the mid range in the centre position but cranked up treble to 8 and bass to 6 as I prefer it that way, but I’m no expert on sound systems. Have you seen or activated the ‘Live Dynamic’ button that pops up? I had to Google what it was (it corrects for the digitisation of music tracks to give a more original sound).
