    Besides it’s all a bit of a moot point as the retail value is of no concerns to us or Motability, so to go back to my original point… apart from the snob value why wait?

    Do I really have to explain this yet again? A newer reg car will always be worth more. That’s a fact that only you would disagree with. The residual value at lease end absolutely is of ultimate concern to us. Residual values are a major factor in determining APs. In fact, Motability are increasing APs specifically due to concerns over residual values, so to prevent people from choosing to take a car a few days later to get the newer reg (when they are happy to do so) is shooting themselves in the foot, and ultimately results in us paying larger APs than we need to. To delay slightly to get the new reg isn’t ‘snob value’ it’s common sense. I suspect that you still won’t agree, but I can’t explain it any clearer I’m afraid.

    Nah you don’t have to explain it again but no doubt you’ll try just to get the last word in… 🙉🙊😂😂

    @kezo
    of course they’ll be a difference in your scenario because as I already said the dealer will adjust the prices as the punter thinks they’re getting a younger car without checking its registration date, cars could be 1 day or 1 year apart? Same as identical cars at different dealers being different prices, not a true relation to the residual value at the end of the lease though 🤷‍♂️

    @Daffy
    I’d be interested to know the outcome but I suspect even if you do pick it up on the 1st Sept it’ll already be registered in Aug but good luck anyway 🤞 time to buy a private plate 🤔
