Sounds like even Motability has changed their policy now as I remember a good few years ago reading documentation on the site the dealers use that they would like the vehicle new or renewal if due on the last week of the month before plate change to postpone it to the new plate date unless if the vehicle was to be adapted.
As I say this was a good few years ago now that I read that.
