@MissingSound7 A few other thoughts for you to mull over!
The XC40 on the scheme isn’t terribly well equipped. I looked at it and discounted it pretty quickly, as it would be missing too much kit that I wanted. I have also never liked the infotainment setup, which also now feels outdated. Also, Volvo petrol engines are notoriously thirsty by today’s standards, so the car will be costly to run. Volvo have never been terribly committed to Motability, so we never get offered their more desirable models.
Hyundai and Kia are far more committed to the scheme and, as a result, a much wider range of models and variants are offered, including top spec models that want for nothing (kit wise). They also offer a wide range of petrol, hybrid, PHEV and BEV models.
The two top trim Tiguans have thankfully joined the scheme, but even the better equipped Elegance model has lost some desirable kit over the outgoing model and option prices are extortionate (more than the premium brands in fact).
Looks of cars are obviously entirely subjective. I really dislike the exterior styling of the Sportage, whereas others love it. The Tiguan looks very nice on the outside but has taken a downturn on interior quality from the outgoing model (as has the new Kuga – bit of a cost cutting trend me thinks), and both my wife and I agreed that we couldn’t live with the interior. I really disliked the infotainment setup, and my wife said she “couldn’t sit looking at that huge slab of black plastic with silly lights in it” 😂
Personally, I’m not a fan of the exterior styling of the Tucson, but the interior of the facelifted model won me over and, after all, that’s what we spend our time looking at! Interestingly, my wife and both my adult daughters (ages 30 and 26) ALL really love the look of the Tucson and say that it looks much better than our current BMW X1 😭 (Needless to say, I don’t agree). We went for the Ultimate model with the light leather and even I have to admit that the interior look and quality is far closer to our current BMW than any of the other cars that we looked at. We have also gone for the PHEV model as our first toe in the water of what the future might look like. Time will tell whether or not that’s a wise move 😂
