I visited family over the weekend and decided to take advantage of my mums newly installed Ohme pro after convincing my parents an EV (Kona) would be best for them. Come Sunday morning I put my Tucson on charge thinking it would only take a couple of hours to charge and would be ready by the time I left for home.
In those two and a quarter hours I had it on charge, I racked up 5 dynamic charging events. What made matters even worse, the car only charged at 3.7kw, not the 7.2kw it is capable of, meaning I left without a full battery. A quick look at the CT clamp reading was showing 0!
Because I needed to get back home, I didn’t get time to look at why properly and will have to look more in depth on my next visit. However, it reminded me what sh!t chargers they are and why I don’t install them.
My parents are late 70’s and mid 80’s and all they want to do is plug the car in when they come in and a basic time where charging reliably starts at 12:30 and finishes at 05:30 without hastle, especially as dad has terminal cancer. I can honestly see me scrapping Ohme and fitting an Easee one or Lynchr (Hydra Cubis), for simplicity!
Rant over! However I was going to ask your opinion when I had 5 🙂
