Important to remember with Trump is that he doesn’t care about the environment, never has, never will. He believes climate change is a lie, has a bizarre thing about wind turbines and electric boats. He has the backing of oil companies in the US; they want more protected lands to dig on and so Trump is pushing for an end to electric car mandates. Musk? He’s made his money, he’s just trying to solidify a hold on power. Point is that the car industry will follow the politics but it doesn’t mean the political angle espoused by those seeking control is for the sake of the consumer.
I don’t disagree with any of that. I find myself drawn to listening to Trump purely because my jaw drops at some of the things that he comes out with. However, he is at least able to string a sentence together (unlike Biden) and, barring a miracle, will be leader of the free world again by the end of the year. The green agenda will almost certainly slow in the US and it would be unusual if that didn’t have a knock on effect beyond their shores.
