Interestingly, one of my nephews got an EV 2 years ago on a 3 year contract. He can’t charge at home and the novelty of charging at public charging points has well and truly worn off and he says that long journeys are a pain. He can’t wait to switch back to a petrol car at the end of the 3 years.
Absolutely, without a home charger, I don’t see the point in owning an EV. The cost of public chargers in the UK is ridiculous compared to our European neighbours.
It certainly works out much dearer to run an EV compared to an average diesel model or a reasonably efficient petrol model if you’re relying on public charging.
I’ve only had to use public chargers a few times and my cost per mile including those times is around 5p per mile, compared to 19p per Mike in our previous XC40.
As to Trump, well that’s not surprising. He represents all the good ole boys who want to keep their V8 pick ups while shooting out the back with their guns!
