As a rule airing cupboards do not use asbestos as its not hot enough to need it but if the cupboard use to contain a boiler or warm air heater, then its possible there may be some asbestos used.
The other thing to watch out for is the honesty of the 2nd company upping the price after initially giving a much lower price especially as the initial surveyor didn’t mention the cupboard!
