The Vitara had a facelift in 2022/23 and both mild hybrid and hybrid AllGrip models should return upwards of 40mpg. They sit higher than a hatchback but I doubt seating is as high as your X Trail. The S Cross is the bigger car, gets decent economy and more akin to cars like the Qashqai imo.
