DL are “”abysmal” – apparently… https://www.insurancebusinessmag.com/uk/news/breaking-news/direct-line-regroups-amid-another-potential-takeover-attempt-480549.aspx
That is awful @tomthumb.
I’m sure I heard in the last week or so on LBC News that they were holding out for a figure of £4b.
I’d have thought that Motability Ops would have done some ultra serious due dilligence before getting into bed with them. Reading that article and hearing @tomthumb’s story is a bit frightening because my experience of the taxi card they give you on a breakdown is really bad. Most taxi’s took at least an hour to come and when I questioned with the driver why it took so long he said that they got such a low payment for the Motability jobs, that most drivers just ignored them.
I remember reading the House of Lords report into Motability a few years ago and if memory serves, I’m sure that Motability did a chunk of the underwriting themselves, together with RSAM. They make enought profits, it was over £400m last year and almost £1b the year before.
Would be good to hear any other experiences and hopefully the one above is the exception.
