    @solent60 – The Peugeot has been tested, yes. Drove the 1.2 PureTech petrol and found it really disappointing to drive, too slow. Just felt like too big a frame on a car with that engine, if that makes sense? I’m not going for another diesel so it’s petrol or hybrid (or EV). The hybrid estate 308 felt cheap quality (imo) for the AP cost, although it drove better. Reduced space in back due to batteries so it’s not a good fit.

    Vauxhall was pretty much the same. Petrol was too sluggish and the hybrid is £7999. I’d also be VERY reluctant to take a Vauxhall after trouble in the past with them.

    @kezo
    – No shouting from me. The MG5 was also disappointing although it was priced well. Leaned and bounced around too much for my liking. Boot lip was a problem for partner dog catching legs getting in.

    Ford was only 1.0 and engine was out of puff quickly over 40mph, which was a shame as I thought that may fit.
    SEAT was very plasticky inside and not fun to drive. Same as the Ford, very thirsty.
    Cupra Leon looked interesting but I’ve had 3 separate test drives postponed because said cars have “developed issues” (broken down). They’ve not gotten back to me so may be a sign?

    The 3 Series is better than all the above: comes with the kit I’d need (rear camera, sensors), looks good and is great to drive.
    Just can’t justify the cost of the AP so am still deliberating. May have to consider an SUV with a lower boot entry instead.
