I was wondering how you got on with MB via Twitter?
I emailed MB to ask for a purchase figure on my 2020 leased car, to be given the standard cut and paste email saying MB no longer offer the cars to drivers at the end of the lease.
Not willing to accept this response, I pointed out that in 2020 it was certainly the MB policy to offer the cars to drivers, and the current range (closest like for like) is not electric and nearly £4500 in advance payment, compared to the £1500 I paid in 2020.
I await their response, however it is wholly unacceptable that they change the rules part way through the contract to exclude purchasing at the end of the lease. Anyone who can afford to purchase one doesn’t necessarily want to stay on the scheme anyway, as they would be able to buy one with warranty from a dealer for similar figures, so why they have put up this roadblock makes no sense.
We wanted to buy the current car to keep one ‘larger car’ and then get a smaller car via Motability, but with the rule change this may well be a death knell for any further business with them for us.
