Yeah keightley I’ve been driving now for exactly 30 years, I’ve had 12 cars, no accidents and only two mechanical problems. Alternator in a rover, off the road for two days and fixed myself. An Alfa were the timing belt went at 50mph on a dual carriageway, that was fun, not lol. I just scrapped it.

Brake downs are very rare tbh, more modern cars are probably worse due to the tech being used like digital dash failure, EV charging port doors not opening etc.

AJX I was nearly getting a BM on the scheme, I think it was the Gran coupe 2 series? But either the 3008 joined and I wanted to try and SUV or it was the Kona and I wanted to try and EV. But it was a lovely car and always hearing how good BMs were I fancied it.

Out of 30 years I’ve been on the scheme 10 and had 4 cars and before that I have had 7 cars and I never ever serviced any and apart from a safety perspective, I never maintained any and they were still all brilliant motors that never let me down.

My current Kona has been washed inside and out in about 4 times in near 3 years. Listen it’s not stinking on the inside, it’s not full of rubbish or anything, it’s a tidy car that’s just a bit dusty lol and the less time and money I spend on it is more time and money I spend on/with my kids. It’s about £14 for a mini valet, that will also get me and the other half a nice breakfast in the local cafe, or £14 for the amusements for the kids. An hour to do it myself, that’s an hour I could be messing around with the kids. For me it’s just a big lump of metal, yes like most I want the biggest and best lump of metal that I can afford, but it’s still a big lump of metal, no matter what brand or model ?

It appears that I’ve learnt a lesson. Some folk have brand loyalty and love their brands, so lord forbid should you ever pass negative comment on their pet fancies.
