Your basing that on one car which done well the brand and rest of the models done very badly. Parkers which is a sister company of fleet news explain it better. Anyway if anyone has a spare 10 minutes go online and check brand reliability tests and see how bad BMW scores. You will be as shocked as I was. Also Kezo the which score is based on a public survey rather than way you described it as in their own tests like they do on white goods.
What Car did a “supposedly” did a 5yr reliability survey last year based on the experiences of nearly 22,000 owners , BMW was was raked above 90% across for each of its models. BMW was rated in 12th place with a score of 93%. Skoda 16th place 91.4%, with the rest of the group sitting below and Cupra ranked 32nd with 82.4%, taking the spot of JLR, who moved up to 28th spot with 87.6%. Question is who do you believe as they all say different!
Ive never had a problem with BMW and Ive had a few, other than one or two niggly faults that were dealt with promptly. @Southman will say the same with his Range Rover or others from the JLR group, yet JLR rank one of the worst. Its how you percieve a car or anything else for that matter. If it treats you well you will buy another, if it doesn’t you will move on, same with retailers.
As I said previously I bought a Which best buy LG washing machine, it was replaced within 3 months as it wouldn’t spin, the replacent failed with the same fault in a similar time and a refund was given. I have since had a Bosch serie8 washer and heat pump dryer without issue and their coming up to years old. Which certainly isn’t a service I would pay for, especially as so many retailers state which product or Which/Good house keeping best buys. Good house keeping is free but, I* respect we all look at things differently 🙂
