This makes sense, as battery tech becomes more common place then the opportunities to recycle increase and the passport could be the incentive to look for recycled parts rather than digging up more raw materials.
It could also disprove a number of myths about the origins of the materials. If the passport shows all materials were originating from China then the child labour in Africa statement is instantly dismissed.
