Not much point in arguing what it should be. If the vehicle insurance companies say NO under 25 year olds, its a show stopper. If the OP is not happy with the vehicles on offer, then wait 3 months and see what comes on to the scheme then. Motability wash their hands of the vehicles on offer for under 25 year olds and point their finger at Direct Line.
For once Motability has a point. Insurers have pinned down stats showing U25s present extra risk because X% of accidents where the driver was distracted/going too fast/inexperienced were also U25.
In reality there has been people appeal the U25 rule because they’ve been driving years and have needs that require something not really available just because of age. It might be that finding a suitable car and argue a case that 5 years trouble free driving provides some assurance of responsibility and care in a car. ??♂️
