signed, but why to 63, why not let those who qualify long term sick to take early retirement on the state pension as in private pension, I think this cap is some one arguing on the basis of them having raised the pension age that is basically applies to them. Some people like myself, won’t live to 63, we may not live to 55, but we can’t draw state pension until we reach state pension age.
I am a little conflicted with this, because I know govt. have long since spent the contributions of state pension and there is no pot of money that is invested and receiving interest as in a private pension, the money coming in is simply used to pay money out. Also pension increases with age as people save more contributions, but for me personally although I have to carefully manage my benefits, I sort of feel that those benefits are me getting my state pension in advance already.
If you get moved onto state pension you lose some of your benefits anyway, so it is basically just swings and roundabouts, different sources to get the same amount of money.
