The 20 fossil’s are in a different class than the heavier edrive20 models. Personally I look at the edrive20 as the underpowered outgoing q4 etron.

Most of my previous BMWs were 2.0 litre and 3.0 litre diesels, and the only two petrol BMWs that I’d had in the past were 3.0 litre and 4.4 litre, so the 2.0 petrol was a gamble for me, but it’s an absolutely superb engine. It’s virtually silent, extremely quick when you need it to be and amazingly economical. I easily get into the 40s mpg which gives me a range of around 600 miles, so it’s all the benefits of a diesel with the refinement of a petrol. I’d get another car with this engine in a heartbeat and would much prefer it over a BEV, but I can’t see this choice coming to Motability. If we leave the scheme, the engine is also available in the X3 ?

The 20i is a nice sweetspot in the line up. Powerfull enough for everyday driving, with decent fuel returns. Where The 1.5l 118i is adequate in most circunstances.

As for electric, I don’t know if its BMW, Motability or a mixture of both, the reason why we only get the 20. On one hand it has the most range, on the other, it seems under powered with its 250nm torque for such an heavy car. There are better out there that break the 300 mile club!
