Kezo, two problems with that one, I don’t want to get a car with very little charge, as I have said on the charging topic, it is totally unlike picking up the car with very little petrol/diesel, where you pop into your nearest patrol station and top up in five minutes, irrespective of cost. The second problem I am having is that Blackwood Holmes who rent me my wheelchair house, one of six with three (including mine) having drive ways right up to the door with car ports. However that is now over seven weeks that they have sat on their lazy incompetent A*** doing nothing and not giving me permission for Ohme to start work on putting in a charging point. The first five weeks falling on absolutely deaf ears (albeit it was in writing) and the last two and a half weeks with the manager not getting any further forward. The complaint will be sent a step up on Monday.

From my own understanding HA’s are dubious of allowing the unstallation EVSE’s and tennants are left having to jump through hops and hurdles. You will find HA’s have nothing written in their rule books orcontracts regarding EVSE’s, which equally means you are speaking a foreign language requesting permission to have a charger installed. Thats not to say HA’s are dull and no nothing about, whats coming in the future because they do. Current law, which I understand Scotland is mirroring, currently only specifies that an EVSE needs to be fitted in new build homes. Because the law does not cover exisisting homes just yet, meaning HA’s/Landlords will be slow updating their own rules and won’t want to meet the cost of installation untill such time it becomes law. Equally there are a couple EVSE OLEV grants for landlords should they wish to install EVSE in tennants properties. Scotland I beleive is more genorous with these but, they still require part payment from the landlord.

When you contact them again, its worth stressing that there is no cost involved to them, as Motability will pick up the cost of having one installed. All you are asking for is permission.

If you find you are still jumping through hoops, which is likely if you are the first to request permission, you may find it helpful getting one of your MP’s involved. Phaedra although not in Scotland has had a similar longstanding battle with his HA. Only recently has the HA said they will allow installation, with @Phaedra being the guinea pig if you like, where the HA will write up a new set of rules for tennants.

Charging isn’t cheap away from home, so keep on at your HA 🙂
