I wouldn’t trust MSN to tell me the sky was blue and waters wet….
Every fire involving an EV is treated as some kind of sign of the apocalypse. An EV can get set on fire via arson, lit cigarette etc, house fire spreading, car next to it, even lightning or a good old 12v electrical fault yet every fire is a sign of how dangerous lithium batteries are….
EV batteries are encased in metal and sealed up. I’ve fuel tanks are usually plastic and exposed.
Yes you can get a battery failure cause a fire same as a diesel Land rover can catch fire via a 12v fault and once the diesel catches it’ll burn hellishly.
Fact is every EV fire gets reported because at least partly there’s an agenda from some and because they’re popular so it’s deemed public interest.
Hate to bring up a bad subject but we didn’t hear about many other terrible things that people do to each other in the world decades ago but now partly due to technology, partly due to societal change and partly due to being encouraged to report things there’s often a report of something atrocious in the news every day.
It’s a similar thing with EV fires. Few decades ago a 30 second satellite broadcast from the US to the UK cost tens of thousands of pounds now it’s essentially free. News travels fast, news that furthers an agenda travels even faster
