Yes @Ian but, the plant manufactures 6 vehicles (ID 3, 4 and 5, Audi Q4 Etron, Q4 Etron 45 Sportback and Cupra Born) The article doesn’t state exactly how many of/or what models were made. So you could say 21,000/6 of how many of each was actually made however, the increase in manufacturing is likely to be the ID’s, using up all the old motors.
The article also state its a record number of vehicles produced, which isn’t guaranteed to continue and the average number of vehicles produced will still be alot lower.
Even a delay of 3 weeks in vehicle manufacturing won’t be long enough to prevent a vehicle joining the scheme, as it would only delay deliver for 2 or 3 weeks. It could also be the case a number of the cars are partly built waiting for motors to finish production. Asides that manufactures close 2 weeks every year for holidays, with no great effect on delivery times.
No one knows yet what if any effect it will have on Skoda, as the motors are produced in a different factory!
If the delay carries on after 3 weeks it may have an impact however VW kept starting and stopping production of the ID3 and 4, for hell of alot longer, yet those who had ordered on the scheme still go their vehicles albeit somewhat later than expected.
@Kezo, its not just that plant which is actually the biggest assembly plant they have (Zwickau) that is short down, its shutting down because of the issue in the VW ev motor plant which is their only plant that builds the APP550 motors for all the updated Audi, Vw and Enyaqs
The plant in Kassel which assembles the the APP550 motors has a shortage of components which means it can it build any more of the new EV motors, so the assembly plants has closed due to the other plants not being able to supply the EV motors
The Key is the Kessel EV motor plant where all the VW group APP550 motors are built, therefore Q4, ID4 and Enyaq 85 which is what we are discussing on this thread are all affected, if it was just an ECU or small component they would continue to build the vehicle and add later the ship them, but as the EV is a major component which other parts cannot be assembled without it in situ production has ceased.
I suspect we will here more of this in coming days, no doubt retail builds will be prioritised as that’s where most profit is.
here is a better link to simplify understanding for you https://www.autoevolution.com/news/volkswagen-has-to-shut-down-production-at-its-largest-plant-in-germany-224223.html.
just more bad news and confirms what my dealer was saying last week why the 85 Sportline plus was not coming to the scheme.
We have also heard from the Q4 owners to confirm that a new motability agreement was needed when they were changed from 40 to 45 models, thankfully prices of the AP stayed static for them, but with the higher AP for the Enyaq pending its a disaster for all motability 80 Enyaq orders
