If you’ve got the ability to charge at home and you don’t regularly travel huge miles then an EV is the perfect option for Motability customers.  The only expense they have is fuel and a BEV will come in at a fraction of the cost for the 200-300 miles your charge gets you.  Plus there’s the wear/tear from frequent short journeys that combustion engines suffer where an electric motor doesn’t and that’s got to be better for Motability’s servicing/repairs budget.

Also, if you’re disabled through lower limb problems but can still use pedals, regenerative braking can save a lot of discomfort over a long journey.   I have found that with adaptive cruise control on motorways and then using regen elsewhere I barely use the brake pedal and even then it’s mostly just to hold the car once stopped.  For those with mental health issues including stress or anxiety, the more relaxing drive I’ve found from an EV would help to some extent.  Obviously there’s not much you can do about the other nutters on the road.

With demand as it is in comparison to plans and forecasts made years ago, I’m pretty sure Motability are getting a pretty good deal on purchase prices right now as well.

All that combines to a good reason or two for them to push EVs without harping on about the emissions, environment and (God forbid) global warming.
