As you know I’m with British Gas where I do get a £150 home warm discount in the winter their ev tariff is 9.2 kWh overnight so not as cheap as octopus ! British installed my smart meter a year ago I don’t know if it would work with octopus I can’t find smeta 2 or secure name on it ? If have to have new smart meter does that cost ?

Octopus is 7.5p and I believe the normal electrcity tariff is cheaper to. You can also get the warm home discount with Octopus and if your smart meter isn’t compatible Octopus will change it for free.
