As long as your daily travel doesn’t go beyond your range and you end up at home, you’ll be paying not a lot to top up.  Helped, of course, by the free 7kWh charger you’ll get from Motability.

If you’re regularly doing long trips then there’s no issue with charging to full, which means you’ll have the full 220ish miles at 70.  I’d have a look to see what you get at 65, it’s surprising just what a difference that 5mph makes on energy consumption without making a huge difference to journey time.

The biggest difference between electric and ICE is the convenience of refuelling at home.  You just plug the car in and forget it, no holding a smelly nozzle in place or going out of your way to get fuel.  Also, if you are travelling close to range or further, charge when you stop, not stopping to charge.  If you stop after driving for 2 hours, plug in, go do what you’d have done anyway and then unplug.  You’ll find you’ll have added quite some range without really delaying anything.

I’ve found the convenience of simply plugging and forgetting the car has been a major benefit to me, especially as the cost is added to your electric bill rather than having to pay each refuel.  This, if you’re like me and don’t use credit cards, can make a huge difference at the end of a month.
