    Paying a deposit

Sometimes your dealer might ask you to pay this when you’re ordering. It will be deducted from your Advance Payment when you get your new vehicle.

If your dealer calls to ask for a deposit, please confirm who you’re speaking to before you give any payment information. If you’re in any doubt, end the call and contact your dealer directly.

Personally I would tell any dealer who asked for a £2k deposit to stick it where the sun don’t shine!  I would then visit another dealer even if it meant travelling to the next county.

As @Glos Guy says, we don’t enter a legally binding contract untill the PIN is entered. Regardless of any dposit paid upfront should be returned if the vehicle is cancelled. However, this can prove very difficult and be more trouble than its actually worth, compared to ordering elsewhere.
