I’d take the top of the range mainstream brand over the so called premium marques in base spec. My previous three cars were the Seat Tarraco Excellence Lux, and 2 Ford C-Max Titanium X’s before that.
I’ve got used to the leather heated seats, sunroof etc. and my current Kona Ultimate has added ventilated front seats and heated steering wheel. I wouldn’t be so worried about some of the electronic driver aids but would miss the creature comforts.
I can live with the build quality and low grade interior materials, scratchy plastics etc. The panel gaps on my Kona are reminiscent of and old Austin Allegro!
I have friends and neighbours with Audi’s, BMW’s Mercs. and Jaguars so appreciate the difference in quality but I couldn’t personally afford the premium price and ownership costs.
