Good question and something we will never know but, you can guarantee like any charity they want something for a cut throat price. I’m not saying Ohme don’t make a profit from but, you can safely say they make more revenue from the the other business they do, such as with car dealers, LA contracts along with other business. And like any other business Ohme will prioritize where the most revenue comes from.
Then there’s the fact they use third party installers rather than there owm in house team, paying them below the gong rate, than they would earn as a business if they were to price a similar job themselves. Believe me contracting is fine whils’t work is slack but when their own work comes in, it takes priority or they no longer want to contract or a better contract comes in.
Then the rat race begins and keeps going round and round untill such time you are slotted in!
Motability’s contract with these companies is a weird one – let the customer and disabled one at that feel obliged to carry out their own survey on something many know little about, which may trigger a home survey. Some sa this is easy but, for others its not. Then there’s the standard install which includes 2 holes drilled if your lucky and a length of cable. Anything beyond that is chargeable to the customer at a inflated price, is all very weird.
Meanwhile in the real world a customer picks up the phone and say hey Mr kezo can you give me a price to install a charger. O.K I say when are you free for me to pop round. On the day of visit 1 is a look at what the customer want and to install x charger at point y. A quote is often given later that day or the next by telephone or email. On the day of the install it takes as many holes drilled as neccessary and as much cable as neccessary based on my initial calculations and to the price. Any initial survey or liasing with the relevent departments is done on behalf of the customer. I can guarantee its far cheeper this way than having a non standard installation done where the installer ups the prices to make up the base money given by Ohme, especially on larger jobs.
