Removing the key from a keyless entry and start vehicle doesn’t make a difference to it running. I’ve read so many stories where people have thought they had the key on them but it was in the house which was close enough to allow them to start the vehicle and drive off. They’ve only realised at the other end of their journey when they come to leave that they haven’t got it on them so can’t unlock or start the car!
