I have to say though that I’ve totally disregarded saloon cars over the last few years because of the difficulty of getting in and out due to low seating and high doorsills. However the advent of full electric cars with raised floor pans has surprised me and potentially added saloons back into my considerations.

It’s interesting that you say that, because I was behind an i4 and a 3 Series saloon on the motorway the other day and when they were side by side the i4 looked taller, which really surprised me with it being more coupe like. The i4 also has a hatchback style tailgate which is infinitely better than a boot when lifting a wheelchair in and out. If we were looking to change today I’d definitely check it out as, being a BMW, I suspect that it will be great to drive.

The critical thing for us is the height of the seat and the ease of my wife transferring to and from the wheelchair. I’d like a larger SUV than the one that we currently have, but I have a fear that the seats may be too high for my wife, so other options may have to be considered.
