Strange one from Shell Energy, we got no notification of a direct debit reduction following the recent price cuts. We had a fixed rate tariff that ended some time back and automatically got put on the Shell Flexible 11 tariff, there were no fixed rate tariffs at the time. The Shell Flexible 11 tariff is a variable rate tariff with no end date. When I went online and had a look the prices had not been reduced, there was a note on the home page though that read
‘From Sunday 1st October the price of energy changes for customers who are on a standard variable tariff. We regularly update your tariffs page with our latest launches’.
It appears that Shell Flexible 11 is still at the old prices, which makes a mockery of the fact it’s supposed to be a variable rate tariff, you can switch to the latest launched Shell Flexible 12, this tariff charges the new cheaper rates and is also a variable rate tariff with no end date. But if you are not aware of this you will still be paying the old prices, you just have to log in and choose the new tariff. It’s out of order by Shell really, for me the new prices are £164.16 a year cheaper.
