I think some are being a little optimistic on the private PCP/lease deals available here, Motability works out quite a lot cheaper on pretty much any car bar the very cheapest available and especially so if you intend to use the majority of the 60k mileage allowance we get. You could argue that you may have a little equity in a private arrangement but it’s very much dependent on what car and the condition it’s in at the end of the agreement. It can also be pretty stressful and time consuming when it comes to negotiating your next deal and trying to eek out the maximum return on your old car which Motability do a pretty good job of eliminating the majority of. For the majority of users I suspect the scheme is still the best option by a country mile and yes we all want more choice ( me included!) but if we are honest they have most requirements covered.
