The ‘ASG’ is an automated manual gearbox, like a clutchless manual if you will. Hyundai and Kia call it a ‘AMT’, Fiat, the ‘Dualogic’, Volkswagen, the ‘i’ Motion. The same gearbox was used in the Ignis crossover and that’s why in 2020, the gearbox was changed to a CVT overseas. I’m not surprised to read about its clunky gear change. Not entirely sure about the differences in gearboxes though. However, a dual-clutch (DSG, DCT etc) uses two different clutches (one ‘dry’ and one ‘wet’).
From my understanding there is a single clutch and a computer does the gear selector for you.
Looking at the reviews of Indian cars the AGS does not have a P selection.
