Moderated again! @dbryan I wild guess but, could it have been your Veigel 7 steering aid that throwed a wobbler, rather incorrectly communicated with the car and jammed the sytem causing the car to ack abrutly!
the Veigel 7 is a steering handle fitted to the steering wheel with buttons for functions such as indicators, windscreen wipers etc. although I only ever used the indicators as the rest was set to automatic on the car.
