Hi guys
just wanted to share my experience after going for a test drive of the bmw i4 for my mum at Douglas park glasgow. After booking the test drive over the phone 2 days ago, we arrived on time for our appointment. At reception we informed the receptionist that we had an appointment to test drive the i4. We mentioned motability and straight away the girl said the i4 was not offered on the scheme. Obviously we were sure she was wrong as it was confirmed over the phone already so we asked her to check since that was the reason why we were there. She then said she’ll check with her colleague, and then later came back to tell us to take a seat and wait for her colleague without offering any further explanation or apology that she had got things wrong or whatever.
The level of customer service already low just went further downhill from there. The salesman came over to us without making any self introduction and said the car wasn’t there. it was offsite somewhere else. Also “you do know that it’ll be June next year before the car will be ready?” (Over the phone they said Jan-March 2024).
We mentioned again we did make an appointment.
He said something like oh the car must have been moved without his knowledge, that they’ll need to bring it over. Looking extremely unfriendly and unapologetic he told us to wait again and disappeared off. Came back and asked for my licence. After another 5 mins came back and said the car was ready and took us out to the car. The car, a black i4 35e msport, which we had seen on arrival at the dealership parked outside on charge. So plain lies from them from beginning.
He proceeded to ask what car we drove and if we ever drove a bmw. Only questions the salesman ever asked us.
He said he will sit in the passenger seat. We felt extremely uncomfortable throughout the duration of the test drive, he gave us directions to drive in, didn’t offer any information on the car, so we tried to ask some questions but he was not helpful and when asking about adding options, he just said the car was well spec’ed already and that he was surprised they even put the i4 on the scheme. After about 10 mins we felt like it was enough and decided to head back and end the test drive. After getting out the car the salesman asked us if we had further questions. In the car park and did not even ask us to go back inside to discuss details.
We did not want to stay there any longer and left. Although the car was a good drive and we wanted to know more about the car, the attitude and lack of customer service and interest from them left us uninterested in proceeding further with that dealership.
After leaving we contacted Arnold Clark BMW Hillington 10 miles from Douglas Park. The motability specialist over the phone was the complete opposite, extremely helpful and said a car could be available November this year and provided everything we needed to know over the phone.
Whether or not we are buying a new, used or mobility car from them, they should not be leaving people feeling like second class citizens which is what they made us feel like at bmw Douglas park.
Very shocked and disappointing at the attitude.
